Davis: Playing against my Dad on Saturday will be unique

Joe Davis will be aiming to get one over on his Dad on Saturday afternoon when Fleetwood Town make the trip to Crewe Alexandra.

His Father Steve is the boss of the Railwaymen having been appointed to replace long standing manager Dario Gradi in November 2011.

Town go into the game looking to move themselves away from the lower reaches of the league, while the Alex could move off the foot of the table with a win.

Ahead of the game, Davis said: “I’ve played against my Dad before so it’s not something that’s completely new, but it is a bit unique however my preparation will all be the same.

“I’ll still be trying to get three points for us and I’m sure he will be too from his side of things, so we’ll be going into it with the same attitude.

“It doesn’t change things for me because it’s just something we have to deal with. It’s about going there with a professional mindset.

“It’s a massive game for both sides as you just have to look at the league table to see that. If we manage to win then it builds a bit of a gap from the bottom teams.

“I think it’ll be a good game for starters because we both like to play good football. It’ll be entertaining to watch.

“It’s a good test for us because they’re quite organised at the moment and have had a couple of good results as of late.

“Their tales will be up but we just have to go there with the same sort of attitude and play in the same sort of manner that we have been.”
