Club also publishes free online version before kick off

Fleetwood Town is widely regarded as one of the most forward thinking football clubs in the country, evidenced not least by its dramatic progression from the lower reaches of non-league football into the third tier of English football, not to mention its current development of a new state of the art £6 million training facility.

The Cod Army are going back in time however with its new 2015/16 match day programme which from this Saturday’s League One home game against Colchester United will have a cover price of just £1.

The aim is to remove the clutter associated with modern ‘telephone directory’ style publications now common throughout the Premier League and Football League (costing up to £4 in some cases)

The Club instead want to offer buyers a slick, streamlined issue containing all the key facts needed which crucially has enabled the slash to the cover price.

The programme has been heavily supported financially by the Club’s new printing partners, Hesketh Press. Hesketh Press are a family-run printing company that has been supplying the Fylde Coast with top-quality business cards, leaflets, advertising materials and product packaging for over two generations.

But the excitement with the new programme doesn’t end there, as the Club publishes a free online version ahead of kick-off for every competitive first team game via the Cod Army’s social media channels.

The main aim is to make Fleetwood's programme affordable to all ages and all pockets, particularly for younger fans.

Vice Chairman Phil Brown commented: “When I was a kid, I always purchased a programme when I went to a game because they were just pocket money back then.

“Youngsters no longer collect programmes because they can’t afford to buy them which is a real shame.”

The Club believes a £1 programme hasn’t been issued by a League club for over 20 years, and Brown added however: “Unfortunately we’re not able to reduce our beer prices to those of 20 years ago!”

Fleetwood Town’s #codarmy match day programme will be available at this Saturday’s home game against Colchester United priced at just £1, so why not give it a try?
