Young Cod Army have started the season impressively
Fleetwood Town youth team’s unbeaten start to the season continued on Saturday morning as they beat Carlisle United 5-2.Striker Mamadou Djabi netted a hat-trick, while Jordan Hancox and Andy Smith also got on the scoresheet in Cumbria.
Djabi got the game’s opener when he latched onto a cleverly weighted ball, and beat the home keeper to give Town a half time lead.
Carlisle equalised just after the interval, but a 17 minute demolition in the second half saw the young Cod Army net an astounding four goals.
The home side offered a strong work ethic up until the final minutes and pulled a goal back, however Town stuck to their task and saw the game out professionally.
After last week’s opening day draw away at Port Vale, Rooney’s men have now collected four points from a possible six which represents a great start to the campaign.
