Fleetwood Town’s development side bounced back from Tuesday afternoon’s defeat to Rangers as they beat Preston North End at Springfields this afternoon.

Barry Nicholson’s side were defeated 3-1 by the Scottish side at Poolfoot yesterday, but responded in the best possible way by winning by the same margin against North End.

Eddie Dsane, Akil Wright and Ash Hunter netted Town’s goals as they saw off an experienced Lillywhites outfit.

After the game, Nicholson said: “Today’s performance was like chalk and cheese from yesterday’s performance against Rangers. It was definitely more like us.

“It was a really good all round display and a great team effort. We worked really hard against a Preston team who had five or six lads who are around their first team.

“I told the lads yesterday the more times you give the ball away then the more you get punished, and they looked a little bit more concentrated on the game today.

“They took care in possession and created loads of chances. There’s obviously a few lads who were involved yesterday that have put a great shift in again.

“I’ve got to give one special mention to Eddie who had played two 90 minutes in two days, so fair play to him as he wasn’t going to play today.

“I like working with all the lads to be fair, and there’s obviously a younger group and an older group, and the older ones do have that little bit more experience.

“The great thing about yesterday was the fact the boys have still got a lot to learn about the game, and they realise that.”
