The Cod Army head to Bury on Tuesday eveningThree points away at Bury on Tuesday night will do the world of good to Town’s side according to striker Declan McManus.
The Cod Army make their second trip to Greater Manchester in the space of four days tomorrow evening, after being defeated at Oldham Athletic on Saturday afternoon.
And McManus believes a win is all his side need as they prepare to take on the newly promoted Shakers, who have enjoyed a good start to the season.
He said: “Every game in this league is tough and Bury will be no different. They’re another side who are close to home and have got off to a flyer.
“They beat Wigan in the Capital One Cup at the DW Stadium and have picked up some good points, so they’ll be high in confidence.
“We took a bad defeat at the weekend but I thought we were the better team, but just need that first win and we’ll be away.
“Every time you get beat you just want the next game to come quickly so you can put things right, and we’ve got the chance to do that on Tuesday night.”
Despite only scoring once so far this campaign, McManus is confident that Town’s strike force will start finding the net.
“I managed to get myself a goal in the first game but for the likes of big Jamma who’s been out for a year it’s tough.
“I couldn’t imagine coming back from that and playing the way he has. He’s been playing well but just needs that one goal.
“It’s the same for most strikers though as one goal can make a big difference. When Jamma does that he’ll be off to a flyer.
“We’ve also got Bally and Proc on the bench too that will guarantee goals this season, so I don’t think we need to start worrying.
“We’ve dominated large parts of games so far this season so it’s not as if we’re struggling. We just need that first three points.”
