Welshman named Club's education ambassador

Goalkeeper Chris Maxwell has been named as the Community Trust’s Education Ambassador for the 2015/16 campaign.

The Welshman won the Community’s Player of the Year award last season for his fantastic work in and around the local area.

Alongside Declan McManus, Eggert Jonsson and Nick Haughton, who have all also been named ambassadors, Maxwell will continue to help local youngsters.

He said: “It’s important that the players take interest in the community with it being such a tight-nit one.

“The players are seen as role models who should encourage good behaviour, good morals and principles amongst the youngsters.

“It’s a really important thing for me as it’s something I enjoyed doing when I was a young lad.

“Education is massively important and it’s vital everyone works hard whatever age they are.

“Schools and teachers have major influences on what type of people the children in our community end up being.

“It’s definitely something that’s close to my heart.”
