Cod Army picked up their second successive win

Assistant manager Chris Lucketti praised Town’s win over Colchester United at Highbury, with a number of individuals starring.

Jimmy Ryan opening the scoring with a fantastic finish into the top corner before David Ball doubled the advantage.

Jamie Proctor got his second goal in as many games in the second half, while substitute Jamille Matt netted for the first time since returning from a serious injury.

Graham Alexander opted to field the same side that begun at Bury in midweek, and it was a move that paid dividends as the Cod Army scored four goals once more.

Lucketti said: “We’re delighted with today’s result as we’ve finally become ruthless and taken our chances over the past two games.

“There were some excellent performances today. We’ve got some real young talent at the Club with plenty of promise.

“We do know that we’ve got to be patient and the fans have to be patient too, because they aren’t going to play like that every week.

“That’s what inexperience brings you, but the signs are extremely promising from the likes of Amari’i Bell and Lyle Della-Verde.

“Everybody is over the moon for Jamille in the changing room as he’s suffered for 14 months. For him to get his reward makes all the hard work worthwhile.

“Jimmy is capable of goals like that as we see it every day in training. When he steps in he is a real goal threat and showed everybody what he can do today.

“He’s a quality player and we’ve watched him for a number of years. He’s a player we’ve tracked and knew we were getting someone with ability when he signed.

“I can think of many goals like Bally’s we’ve had over the last two and a half years, but we’ll take it as you make your own luck.

“It’s great for all the strikers to get off the mark now and I’m delighted for Proc. We’ve got Dec too who has also got off the mark.

“It’s vital that we get our strikers up and running, and with that being the case now hopefully they can get confidence from that.”
