Principal contractor have been working with Thornton Primary
Fleetwood Town’s principal contractor at Poolfoot Farm, F Parkinson Ltd, have continued their support of the community closest to the training ground.Well established local building contractor F Parkinson recognises the importance of community engagement and demonstrated this with their work with Thornton Primary School, the closest school to Poolfoot.
Parkinson ran a competition with the pupils to draw how they would like to see their own perfect playground.
The school chose the winning drawing; Parkinson funded and created the chosen vision of a landscaped area with a mountain and lazy river.
Alongside Fleetwood Town they also recognise the importance of building strong community links within the areas affected by developments.
They spent three days with Thornton Primary School, which included a tour of Poolfoot Farm around the safe areas, teaching pupils about building materials and safety.
A few days after the initial tour of the site, Parkinson’s returned to Thornton with their health and safety mascots, ‘’Isla Be Safe‘’, to host an assembly to the whole school how to stay safe on site.
At the end of the health and safety assembly they launched an art competition to design a poster to illustrate site safety. The winning drawings were provided with art packs and stationary, with their designs printed onto a banner
and fixed to the site hoarding.
The final day with the school, Parkinson’s held a brief classroom session with pupils that had visited the site on day one to show them site drawings and plans.
The pupils were then asked to create their own site drawing of how they’d like their playground with the eventual winner seeing their dream come true.
Chief Executive Steve Curwood said: “We have used local firm F Parkinson Ltd on a number of our major developments.
“We use them not only to keep construction work local, but primarily because we know their reliability, and their considerate approach to our neighbours who are those most affected by any development.
“Their work at the local primary school properly illustrates their commitment to giving back to the communities in which they operate and really helps us demonstrate to the local residents how important community engagement is for
the football club.’’
