Right back has started all four of the Cod Army's last league games

Town youngster Tyler Forbes is hoping his run in the first team will continue on Saturday when Graham Alexander’s side travel to Walsall.

Forbes has started the last four games at right back, and believes competition between himself and Conor McLaughlin is healthy.

He has performed impressively in games against Bradford City, Preston North End, Gillingham and Yeovil Town, and wants to keep his place in the starting 11.

Ahead of the game against the Saddlers, he said: “I’ve been doing well in training recently and just want to push on now.

“Conor’s obviously been away on international duty, so I want to try and push him as well.

“As you play more games things get easier, so I’m just looking to keep on doing that and give Conor a problem.

“It’s completely up to the gaffer on Saturday what he does though and who he feels will be better for this game.

“I’ll be made up if I start again on Saturday, but if I don’t then I’ll be made up for Conor.

“We’ve done great over Easter and have picked up six points, but we also picked up points in the games before as well.

“I’m looking forward to the last five games now and hopefully we can pick up more points.

“This is my first year as a professional and it’s gone really well, so I’m hoping to just keep it going now.

“It’s a confidence boost when the gaffer says I’ve got the attributes to be a right back.

“We’ve got a big five games to go and know that the Play-Offs aren’t too far away, so if we can pick up more points then you never know what will happen.

“It’s a tight league so if you drop points then you could fall a few places, but if you win then it pushes you right up there.”
