Welshman enjoyed a successful evening at the awards evening

Chris Maxwell was named the supporters’ player of the season at the Club’s annual awards night on Saturday evening.

The shot stopper has been in fine form for Town during their first ever season in League One, and has kept a total of 14 clean sheets.

Maxwell was also named the players player of the year alongside defender Stephen Jordan, in what was a successful evening for the Welshman.

His final award on a memorable evening for the Welsh man was the community player of the year award following his fantastic work away from the field of play.

“I think a lot of the lads have played really well this year and to be part of that is a big thing for me never mind coming out with being the best player in other people’s eyes.

“It’s crazy and I’ve had a lot of help especially from Dave Lucas, the gaffer and Chris Lucketti as well. It’s not just me that wins it, it is everyone else who has helped me this season.

“The lads are putting in 100% effort throughout the week and the gaffer, Skip and Lucs are putting effort into it on a daily basis and it just shows how far we’ve come really from last season and how well we have done in League One.

“On a personal point of view only 18 months ago I was playing in the Conference every week and now I’m playing League One and winning personal accolades, it’s a crazy time.

“I like to be the best, whether it’s doing anything in life. None more so than competing with myself and trying to make myself better and better each day, it’s something I really enjoy and hope I keep enjoying it for many years to
come.

“Lucs still shows me how to do it in training now and again, and still shows that he is a fantastic goalkeeper, so I’m just grateful he can pass all that knowledge and all that ability that he had down to me.

“A lot of lads have played well and there are a lot of fans’ favourites here, including Scotty when he was here, he was a massive fans’ favourite so it’s a real warm feeling that I have been accepted into this family.”
