Town produced a solid defensive display at the Keepmoat Stadium

Town defender Stephen Jordan gave his take on Saturday’s afternoon stalemate against Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Graham Alexander’s side produced a solid defensive display but were unable to carve out any clear cut chances in South Yorkshire.

The result meant the Cod Army stay in eighth position in the third tier with only two league games of the season remaining.

After the game, Jordan said: “I thought we were by far the better team in the first half without really having any decent shots on goal.

“The pitch was a bit bobbly and they sat deep which was hard to break down. We had a lot of possession but all in all I guess we’d have taken a point.

“We like to play the ball quickly and the pitch didn’t really allow us to do that.

“These are the sort of places we’ve come to this season where we’ve enjoyed lots of possession but end up getting undone by a sucker punch.

“We can take the positives out of this one though in that we managed to get a decent point.

“Ultimately it’s our job as defenders not to concede so it’s just unfortunate that we didn’t manage to get a goal.

“If we manage to finish in seventh or eighth this season then it’ll look a really good season.”
