Goals from Ball (x2), Proctor and Hunter sealed the win

Graham Alexander was satisfied with his side’s performance as they put four goals past bottom of the table Yeovil Town this afternoon.

David Ball netted twice early on to give the Cod Army the perfect start, before Jamie Proctor added another just after the half hour mark.

Substitute Ash Hunter later scored his first goal in Fleetwood colours to seal what was an impressive victory for Alexander’s men.

After the game, he said: “We’ve had other games this season where we should have scored more goals, so today was really pleasing.

“We’re coming into the real business end of the season now, so to follow what was a great win for us at Gillingham with another here is brilliant.

“It puts our goal difference back in the positive margin which is important in a league this tight.

“We spoke about the expectancy levels after the Gillingham game, and that you can’t just win a game in 20 minutes. It’s about the whole 95 minutes.

“We had to make sure we did things right, but the early goal did obviously settle us and the fans down.

“One and two nil scorelines can be dangerous especially if a team pulls a goal back, but fortunately for us we did the right things at the right times.

“The strikers may be a little bit down in terms of their goal tally, but their work ethic has always been there and is evident in every game.

“We defended from the front today and the interplay between Ball, Proctor and Haughton was superb in the first half.

“They caused Yeovil a lot of problems, but when you cause team problems you have to score, and we did that which was pleasing.

“We’ve got a lot of belief in these young lads who are in our squad at the moment, and Ash has come on in other games and contributed very well.

“Strikers always want to score goals and I thought it was a great finish from him as it was a little bit awkward.”
