Winger puts in strong performance against the Tykes

Midfielder Matty Blair spoke to the club’s media team after the 0-0 draw with Barnsley and explained that goals will come despite Town once again creating a number of goal scoring opportunities.

“If I had the answer to that we’d be winning. It’s a difficult one, we’re creating the chances which is the main thing, if we weren’t creating the chances then I think it would be something to worry about.

“Scoring goals is probably the hardest thing to do in football but like I say we are creating chances so they are coming.”

Speaking about the recent games with Barnsley, Crawley and Oldham Blair said: “They have been frustrating games because we haven’t scored but we’ve taken a lot of positives from these games.

“Against Barnsley, an ex-Championship side, we’ve put in a good shift and a good performance. Yes, we had to weather the storm at times and they had a good 20 minute spell in the second half but you are going to get that.”

Adding: “No doubt we’ll get that against Bristol City on Saturday as well. So, like I say we are creating the chances that’s the most important thing. It will come.”

Blair, who was out of the starting line-up at the beginning of the season expressed his delight at starting against both Crawley and Barnsley: “I’m enjoying it all. I must admit I was very frustrated I didn’t start the season and I was very frustrated to wait until now but I’ve been patient.

“I’ve worked hard, my fitness is getting there. I feel fitter and stronger every game. You need four or five to get to your max fitness, hopefully I get that and can start scoring goals.”
