The Fleetwood born youngster followed in the footsteps of Conor Finlayson

Owen Bridge was the latest Fleetwood Town player to make his debut for the youth team on Saturday morning as he came on in the second half.

Bridge, who was born in Fleetwood, became the second scholar in a week to make his debut, after Conor Finlayson appeared against Rochdale seven days ago.

Recent injuries have forced manager Craig Madden to dip into the lower age groups as members of his squad recover from their knocks.

Bridge offered his thoughts to the Club’s official website following his brief cameo for Madden's young side, and stated his delight in the process.

"I'm very proud to pull on the shirt of my local Club. It is a massive honour and a great moment in my life, and also my career.

“I can't wait to tell my friends and family all about this experience."

The youngster continued his interview by stating his desire for his future career, and stated that if it were possible, then he would like to feature on a regular basis for Fleetwood in the higher age group.

"I definitely want to build upon this. I'm determined and I want to build and try and get into this squad on a frequent basis, as the coaching staff and the rest of the lads have been brilliant with me."
