The manager spoke to the Club's media team after the game

Graham Alexander spoke to the Club’s media after this afternoon’s narrow defeat at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Liam McAlinden gave the Cod Army the lead with a well-taken finish, before Gavin Massey scored twice to give The U’s all three points.

Alexander said: “There’s massive frustration from our part. We’ve come away from home and not been in any danger.

“We took the lead with a great finish from Liam and should have had a penalty 10 minutes later. The lad has pulled him back when he’s clean through to score.

“We concede a poor goal at the end of the first half and gave them a lifeline. Second half we started really well and had a couple of chances which we didn’t take.

“If we take those then we’re in control again, but we don’t and then leave ourselves open for an opportunity for Colchester to win the game.

“We’re disappointed with the way we conceded the second goal too. It was a great finish from the lad but as a team we should have defended it better.

“For our goal, it was a fantastic ball from Gareth Evans a great finish from Liam. We needed to build on that though, and could have should we get the penalty we deserved.

“These things are going against us week in, week out now away from home and it should be seen. I think it is seen but is ignored.”
