Northern Ireland international hopes to impress

Martin Paterson stated his delight at joining Fleetwood Town Football Club on-loan from Championship outfit Huddersfield Town this afternoon.

The Northern Ireland international put pen to paper on a deal with the Cod Army until January 3rd 2015 after featuring only a handful of times for the Terriers so far this season.

He teams up with former teammate and current Fleetwood boss Graham Alexander, after the pair enjoyed a successful time together at Burnley.

Paterson is available for this weekend’s league clash away at Yeovil Town as the Cod Army look to bring an end to their form away from home.

He said: “I’m delighted to join the Club. I’m ready now to get going and play some football.

“The move has happened quite quickly over the past couple of days. I spoke to the gaffer at Huddersfield and he said he’d let me go and play some games for Fleetwood.

“It’s been a bit hectic but I’m ready for Saturday and we’ll see what that brings. If I do get the opportunity to start then I’ll be ready to take it.

“I think everybody in football knows that Fleetwood have been rising over the years, and you can see that in the future it’s going to be quite a big Club.

“I’m just going to play my game and see where it takes me, but if I work hard then I’ll be okay.”

Paterson will wear the number 16 shirt while at Highbury.
