Lytham High crowned champions

This week Fleetwood Town Community Trust has run its annual Football League Girls Cup.

The tournament proved a huge success attracting eight secondary schools across the Wyre and Fylde area. Each school was represented by an U13s team playing in a six a side format. The winners of the tournament then go on to represent Fleetwood Town FC in the regional finals. This leads up to the grand final which is played before the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final at Wembley in 2015.

In conjunction with the Girls Cup, on a weekly basis Fleetwood Town Community Trust deliver girls football sessions within secondary schools as part of a nationwide initiative to increase and retain the amount of females playing the game. The Football League Girls Cup is a great opportunity for the girls to play competitive football against other teams and enjoy their football.

Congratulations to Lytham High School  who were the eventual winners of the Girls after beating Fleetwood High School in a close final. We want to wish Lytham High School good luck in the regional finals.
