A full confirmation of who we will be playing in League One next year
With Fleetwood Town’s sixth promotion in ten years secured, the line-up for next season’s Sky Bet League 1 is now complete.
Antoni Sarcevic scored the only goal of the League 2 Play-off final in the second half to ensure that Graham Alexander’s side will be play in the third tier for the first time in their history and join Chesterfield, Rochdale and Scunthorpe United, who all gained automatic promotion, in League 1.
Those four sides replaced Tranmere Rovers, Carlisle United, Shrewsbury Town and Stevenage, who were all relegated to League 2.
Towards the top end of the third tier, Wolves, Brentford and Rotherham United all secured promotion to next season’s Championship, whilst Doncaster Rovers, Barnsley and Yeovil Town all suffered relegation heart break and return to League 1.
With the division complete, Fleetwood have a mouth watering local derby clash with Preston North End to look forward to, whilst the Cod Army can also look forward to facing likes of Sheffield United, Milton Keynes Dons, Coventry City, Leyton Orient and Peterborough United on an even keel.
