Fancy an early punt on the new season? Sky Bet has the right odds for you
On the back of a sixth promotion in ten years, Fleetwood Town have been priced at 6/1 to be promoted to the Championship ahead of their first season in the third tier.
Despite the domestic football season only coming to a close on Bank Holiday Monday, Sky Bet, the official betting partner of the Football League, have already started making their predictions for the upcoming 2014/15 season.
Graham Alexander’s side sit in the middle across all three of the outcomes that have been made available by Sky Bet with the Cod Army being priced at 20/1 to lift the League 1 title.
Nigel Clough’s Sheffield United dominate the promotion criteria and have been priced at 6/1 to be crowned as the League 1 champions, whilst they are also as low as 2/1 to simply gain promotion after narrowly missing out on the play-offs last term.
Fleetwood’s neighbours, Preston North End – on the back of their play-off semi-final loss last season at the hands of promoted Rotherham United – have also been tipped to be amongst the promotion contenders.
Simon Grayson’s side are joint second favourites alongside Peterborough United, who also suffered play-off agony, to lift the title at 8/1 and are also priced at just 5/2 to make their return to the Championship this coming season.
As well as the promotion race being covered, relegation from League 1 is also a hot topic with Fleetwood, again, sitting middle of the board after being priced at 5/1 to make an immediate return back to the fourth tier.
