Left back played crucial role in Town's promotion

Defender Charlie Taylor was delighted to end the 2013/14 campaign with promotion at Wembley.

The left back, who joined from Championship side Leeds United in October, was part of the Town line-up which won the Sky Bet League 2 Play-Off Final 1-0 against Burton Albion.

Taylor has made 42 appearances for the Cod Army this season but will head back to Elland Road following the end of his loan stay.

And the 20-year-old was pleased to help Fleetwood achieve promotion to League One at the home of the England national side.

“I’m buzzing and so are all of the other lads,” said Taylor.

“It’s a great result and it’s got us up to League One, so it’s happy days really. I’ve loved every minute of this season.”

The Cod Army reached the third tier of English football for the first time in their history thanks to Antoni Sarcevic’s 75th-minute free-kick at Wembley.

And Taylor was one of the many Fleetwood players to run over and celebrate with the midfielder, saying there are few better moments in football.

“It was a great feeling when Sarcevic’s goal went in, with all the lads celebrating together, you just can beat it,” said Taylor

“I thought we had the better of the play in the first half but Burton came out better in the second, although we managed to get the win.”

“We were unlucky not to get automatic promotion this season but we proved how good we are in the play-offs.”
