Manager says it will be a fantastic occasion this afternoon at Wembley

Manager Graham Alexander wants to repay the loyal support from Fleetwood Town fans with victory in the Sky Bet League 2 Play-Off Final against Burton Albion.

The Cod Army following will travel to Wembley Stadium on Monday hoping to see their side achieve promotion to the third tier of English Football, League One, for the first time in the club’s history.

Fleetwood fans have travelled up and down the country all season to voice their support for Alexander’s side, and the Town manager wants to give them the ultimate reward at Wembley on Monday.

“Whoever comes we know they will make themselves heard, and we want to repay that loyalty of coming to watch us with a positive result,” said Alexander.

“There’s a lot of commitment and it’s hard for supporters to go everywhere, but what we have had over the course of the season is fantastic support.

“Whoever comes to watch us and however many numbers, that’s what we want to focus on.

“Whether it be the fans we take to away games like Torquay and Exeter, we appreciate the fans that follow us.”

It is the Cod Army’s first trip to the new Wembley, although Town competed at the old stadium in the 1985 FA Vase Cup Final.

Alexander believes it is a special occasion for Fleetwood and wants to take the opportunity which has come around.

“It will be a fantastic occasion for any supporter to watch their club represent the town at Wembley in a major final,” he said.

“That’s what we’ve got the opportunity to do, and we want to do it well.”

Fleetwood Town fans are reminded that they can purchase tickets on the day of the game.
