Town involved with National Citizenship Service
In partnership with the Football League Trust, Cabinet Office and Department for Education, Fleetwood Town Community Trust is delivering The National Citizen Service (NCS), which is at the heart of the coalition Government’s vision for building a big society.
NCS brings together 16–17 year olds from different backgrounds in a programme of challenge, service and learning, enabling them to develop the confidence, skills and attitudes they need to become more engaged with their communities and to become active and responsible citizens.
NCS brings together 16–17 year olds from different backgrounds in a programme of challenge, service and learning, enabling them to develop the confidence, skills and attitudes they need to become more engaged with their communities and to become active and responsible citizens.
The programme is available to young people of all backgrounds. Giving young people the opportunity to mix with others from different backgrounds is a fundamental objective of the programme.
This summer 15 young people from Fleetwood and the surrounding area took on a challenge that would change not only themselves but their community. Teaming up with Blackpool FC and Morecambe FC, almost 60 young people travelled up to Lockerbie to take part in a personal development through activities like: canoeing, climbing, high ropes, archery and many more.
Many fears were conquered and confidence soared within the team with different people stepping up to the mark to lead the team in the activities.
We are now looking for our next set of 15 young people starting in the Easter Holidays. To visit our community website please click here
