Cod Army to find out first round opponents later this month
Fleetwood Town will discover their opponents for the first round of the 2014/15 Capital One Cup on Tuesday 17th June.
It will be only the third time the Cod Army have competed in the competition, having entered the Football League back in 2012 following Fleetwood’s climb up the non-league pyramid.
Last season, Fleetwood fell to a 3-2 defeat at League One outfit Notts County despite taking the lead at Meadow Lane.
The previous season, Fleetwood’s first ever game in the competition, they were eliminated yet again by a Nottingham club, this time County’s near neighbours Forest.
Dexter Blackstock’s second half strike sealed the former European Cup winners place in the second round despite a valiant display by Fleetwood at Highbury.
The draw for the first round of next season’s competition comes the day before fixtures for the 2014/15 Football League campaign are announced - on Wednesday 18th June.
