Follow the promotion pack
Join the Fleetwood Town media team on Twitter this evening (Tuesday) from 7.30pm. See how the games unfold and the Sky Bet League 2 table takes shape ahead of Saturday’s visit to Highbury of York City.
Following the Monday evening action at Glanford Park and the goalless draw, the remainder of Sky Bet League 2 teams are in action on Tuesday evening – apart from the postponed game at Mansfield where Bury were due to visit.
Town consolidation third spot with that point against leaders Scunthorpe whilst second place Chesterfield travel to York City. The Minstermen provide the Highbury opposition this Saturday whilst Chesterfield travel to the Fylde coast next Tuesday for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Area Final first leg battle.
The chasing pack in the play-off places are led by Rochdale who, on paper, have a relatively straight forward trip to basement side Northampton. The Cobblers, with Town’s Matty Blair on loan, will be fired-up though by the arrival yesterday of new boss Chris Wilder.
Fifth-placed Burton, convincingly defeated by Town at the Pirelli Stadium last Saturday, have the long trip to Torquay to contend with but against a side beat away at 6th place Oxford last weekend.
Oxford United also travel to Devon as they take on Exeter City. The mid-table Grecians have only seen three league games so far in January and will be looking to end that slump. Oxford have played a similar number of league games and taken a win, draw and a defeat in January.
Southend occupy the final play-off berth and Phil Brown takes his side to comeback kings Dagenham and Redbridge. The Daggers trailed three goals to nil at home to Scunthorpe on Saturday before pulling three second half goals back to earn a point. Southend put up a brave fight against Hull City in the FA Cup but it was the Premier League side that progressed to the fifth round.
