Alexander and Parkin in Sky Bet League 2 running

The January nominations for the Sky Bet League 2 Manager of the Month Award are:

Graham Alexander (Fleetwood Town)
His side rediscovered its attacking flair and zest in picking up 13 points from a possible 15 in January, which included a thrilling 4-2 win at fellow promotion chasers Burton Albion, to climb into the automatic promotion places.

Phil Brown (Southend United)
Enjoyed a busy month guiding Southend through league and cup commitments. They gained nine points from five unbeaten League 2 games, the highlight being an emphatic 3-0 win over fellow promotion chasers Chesterfield.

Paul Cook (Chesterfield)
Led his side to top spot in the division as they earned three wins and a draw in five games, scoring 11 goals in the process. Stayed calm during the early winter months and now has his players believing in themselves again.

Russ Wilcox (Scunthorpe United)
Continued his remarkable start to management. His calm approach inspired Scunthorpe to two wins, three draws and four clean sheets from five games and reinforced their position in the automatic promotion places.

The January nominations for the Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Month Award are:

Ryan Clarke (Oxford United) - goalkeeper
Posted an unblemished record during January with clean sheets in each of his side’s four games. Organised his defence superbly and pulled off a number of saves, none better than an acrobatic stop which earned a point at Exeter.

John-Joe O’Toole (Bristol Rovers) – midfielder
Three goals in four games for the attack-minded midfielder who has been given licence to go forward. His all-action displays during January were highlighted by a 90th-minute volleyed winner against West Country rivals Exeter City.

Jon Parkin (Fleetwood Town) - striker
Having worked hard to shrug off a hamstring injury, the veteran has allied fitness to his natural strength. His clever hold-up play was supplemented with clinically-taken goals in wins over Accrington Stanley, Hartlepool United and Burton Albion.

Gary Roberts (Chesterfield) – midfielder
Rediscovered his early season form to inspire Chesterfield’s charge to the top of the table. Offered a creative spark and scored in four separate games, including a delightfully-hooked lob in the 3-1 win at Northampton Town.

ALL WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY FEBRUARY 7 2014
