Defender speaks following Boxing Day match vs Bradford City
Club captain Mark Roberts told the FTFC official website that the Cod Army will be looking to put things right when they travel to Rochdale on Sunday.Fleetwood suffered only their second home league defeat of the season on Boxing Day as Bradford City ran out 2-0 winners, despite the Cod Army having the majority of the chances in front of goal.
“It seems to be the same story at the moment where we are doing so many things right but the fine margins are costing us and we’re not picking up the points our performances deserve.
“I don’t think a lot was wrong it’s just putting the ball in the back of the net. We’re doing all the right things up until that moment, it’s not just the strikers it’s everyone in the team. We’ve just got to keep looking for those fine margins and turn these good performances into points.
“If Jamie Proctor’s shot is half an inch to the left it’s in the top corner and everyone is celebrating a great goal.
“Teams at this level have got the quality to punish you, they’ve got that winning mentality to punish you and we’ve got to develop that, it’s definitely in the squad because we had it last year.
“We’ve got to roll our sleeves up, work hard for one another and keep believing in what we’re doing.
“We’ll dust ourselves down. We’re disappointed of course, we are every time we lose in front of our own fans.
“We’re down about that but we can’t get too down, we’ve got a game in 24 hours against Rochdale and we want to win that game.”
Fleetwood Town fans are reminded that it is pay on the day for tickets at Rochdale.
