Assistant boss delighted with three points at RochdaleChris Lucketti hailed a solid team performance as Fleetwood beat Rochdale 2-0 to sign off 2014 in perfect fashion.
Like he did last season, Mark Roberts was again on the scoresheet at Spotland and turned provider for the second laying the ball off for Josh Morris to score.
Speaking after the win Lucketti labelled it a team display with Chris Maxwell, Roberts and Jamie Proctor all playing vital parts.
“The lads were magnificent from start to finish and probably one of our most complete performances of the season.
“It’s a happy hunting ground for Robbo and ourselves lately. We had a great result here this time last year and today’s result is a really sweet victory.
“It was a complete team performance, every single player and the subs that came on really contributed to a great three points.”
He added: “It’s difficult to single out any individuals when you’ve got a team playing as well as we did today.
“Robbo got us off to a great start with a header and then he gets the assist for the second for Josh and it certainly put us in a comfortable position at half-time.
“Second half, we knew they’d come at us and they did. We stood up to it and to be fair we maybe could have got one or two more ourselves.”
The win marked the halfway point for Town’s first season in the third tier and Lucketti is pleased with how things have gone so far:
“They’ve done really well and we’ve competed in every single game and we’re probably a bit disappointed we haven’t got a few more points on the board and be in a bit better position than we are.
“We’ve shown in every game against the teams at the top end that we can compete, we’ve been ever so close in the games that we haven’t won but we’re going to keep fighting.
“We’ll only get better as the season goes on.”
