Defender's thoughts after a strong 90 minutes at left back

Fleetwood Town’s number three Danny Andrew was proud of his team mates after they came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw with promotion favourites Sheffield United at Highbury Stadium.

Andrew, who stepped in for Stephen Crainey on the left side of defence believes the result highlights the spirit in the camp at the moment heading into a busy festive period for the Cod Army.

“It is unfortunate that Stephen (Crainey) was unable to play due to injury but it opened a door for me and that is how football goes.

“We made a bit of a slow start conceding early on but overall I think we deserved to take something away from the game.

“I was talking to my family before I signed for Fleetwood and we talked about the big games against the likes of Sheffield United. It was great to get 90 minutes.

“It was a great header by Sarc (Antoni Sarcevic) and it highlights the spirit we have in the squad at the moment. To go one down against a top team like Sheffield United and fight back shows what we are about.

“They will be one of the teams pushing for promotion this season so we are glad to get a result and we could have won the game, so it shows where we are at the minute.”
