Fleetwood Town midfielder admits that he is eager to cement a first team place and is hoping his hard work will pay off.

Murdoch, 23, has made three appearances since joining from Falkirk back in June and was able to complete 90 minutes unscathed in a reserve game on Tuesday. “I’m glad that I was able to get the 90 minutes. I’m hoping the manager has seen what I can do and that thinking that I did well.”

With limited appearances so far, Murdoch believes patience will eventually become a virtue and he will get a string of games under his belt. “I’ve just been waiting patiently. I want to be playing as many games as I can but I’m obviously happy with whatever the gaffer has planned for me. I’ll always give 100% effort when I’m called upon. It’s just a healthy atmosphere at the moment (within the squad), probably every position on the pitch there’s somebody chomping at the bit. That’s what you want at the club especially if you’re going to be pushing for a place”

One of the main reasons why Murdoch has been out of the squad is because the current squad are in good form. Fleetwood are looking to make it five wins out of five when they take on 9th place Exeter this Saturday. “Everybody is flying at the moment but there will be setbacks. It’s just a lot easier when we’re winning games. If we can keep this up (the current form) everyone will be delighted – the management, the fans. It just brings a good atmosphere to the club. Everything is new to me and I’m just looking forward to the next game.”

Murdoch then paid tribute to fans at Highbury, “The atmosphere around Highbury is just fantastic. Things were different at Falkirk, there was a step back from the pitch and the fans. At Highbury, you can feel the fans closer to the pitch and it’s a much better closer environment. It’s not just at home. We respect the fans who travel to places such as Portsmouth and Plymouth and we all thank them after the game.”

The ticket office and club shop are open until 5pm on Friday and reopens at 9am Saturday until kick-off. Tickets can be purchased by calling 01253 775080 or online.
