20-year-old loanee from Leeds Utd

Fleetwood Town are pleased to announce the loan signing of Charlie Taylor from Leeds United.

The 20 year old made his debut for Leeds at the age of just 17 and has had further experience with loan spells at York, Bradford City and most recently Inverness CT where he featured 8 times at the back end of last season.

Taylor has signed for an initial month and manager Graham Alexander was delighted to bring him in with the injury to fellow left backs Stephen Jordan.

“Charlie is very highly thought of. He went out on loan twice last season and we just felt with the injuries we’ve got in that area we needed to strengthen that department but I’m excited to bring him in and I think he’ll enjoy it here”.

At the tender age of 20 many would be scared to field such a youthful player but Alexander admits he has no problem with chucking him in at the deep end.

“He’s already played league 2 and in the SPL last year so I’m sure he’s itching to play”

“It’s important that players at any age are hungry to play and Charlie is definitely that so hopefully he’ll have a good spell with us and he’ll help us stay up where we are”.

Taylor, who has represented England twice at Under 19’s could go straight into the team to play Southend on Friday and the full back admits he is looking forward to his time on the Fylde coast.

“I trained this morning and there a good bunch of lads, I’m just looking forward to kicking on and the game on Friday”

“I like to get forward and to get up and down as much as possible”

The former York loanee knew a familiar face at training this morning having played with winger Matty Blair during his time at Bootham Crescent and the defender admits it’s always helpful to know someone within the squad.

“’Blairy’ is a good lad I get on well with him, he’s really helped me today"

“He’s made me feel welcome and I’ve settled in well”
