Midfielder assist hero

Antoni Sarcevic is glad to be of assistance at Fleetwood - after having a hand in all three goals as Town toppled Bristol Rovers 3-1 at the Memorial Stadium.

The League Two Player of the Month for September pulled the ball back to Jamille Matt to open the scoring, before feeding Matt for a second and finding Gareth Evans to cross for the third.

Sarcevic, a summer signing from Chester City, admits he is happy for others to score providing the Cod Army pick up three points.

“I’m happy to assist the lads and give them the goals,” said Sarcevic. “Jamille took both of his goals unbelievably well and then Parkin at the end. It’s what we know he can do.”

The 21-year-old won the Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Month award for September after a number of eye-catching displays last month which included three goals, although he insists results are his main priority.

“The award is always nice, even just to be nominated is a good thing for me,” he said. “To win it is extra special, although I just look win games. This result (against Bristol) how much spirit we have in the side after the defeat (to Exeter) last week.

“Bristol’s strengths were to work the big lads up front and get their crosses in. We got a bit of luck with a few of them hitting the post but that’s all they had. Our goals were all of a mix and I was glad to have a hand in all of them.”
