Youngsters sponsor summer signing
Fleetwood Town juniors have welcomed one of Town’s summer signings through player sponsorship.
The youngsters have chosen to support midfielder Steven Schumacher in the 2013/14 League 2 campaign. The 29-year-old was one of Bury’s stand-out players last term, scoring 10 goals in 44 outings.
Junior’s committee member Andy Smart is looking forward to introducing the young players to Schumacher.
"We are delighted that for the first time ever the whole junior section will be sponsoring a Fleetwood Town player. Steven Schumacher was the Bury captain and he will be a good role model. It's a really exciting to link-up the juniors can’t wait for the opportunity to meet Steven.
“Plenty of our players attend first team games and the Cod Army will enjoy that extra push as we all go for promotion. We are very proud to support Steven.”
With over 300 Football League appearances Schumacher said he was pleased to receive such a welcome to Highbury.
“This is a magnificent start to my Fleetwood Town career. I can’t thank the juniors enough for making me feel so welcome already. I’m certainly looking forward to meeting the juniors over the coming weeks and months.”
