Austrian Match Dates Confirmed

27 June 2013

Fleetwood Town's Austrian pre-season arrangements have now been finalised with two friendly fixtures taking place during the course of the week long stay.

The players fly out on Saturday 6th July and will stay, once again, at the National Sport & Recreation Centre, on the outskirts of the lake side village of Obertraun. The centre, nestled in between two Alpine peaks , alongside the picturesque Lake Halstatt  is once again the perfect location for the club's pre-season preparations.

On Tuesday 9th July,  Town travel from their base to the nearby town of  Bad Ischl for their first friendly fixture of the week. 'SV Bad Ischl', who play at the regionalised Step 4 of the Austrian football pyramid, will be the hosts. While the Austrian season only came to an end at the start of June, the clubs invariably continue straight into 'pre season' as their break is during winter, in the middle of the playing season. The game will take place at their  ''ÖKO BOX''  Stadium in a 7.00pm kick. There may be a small charge for entry, for any supporters looking to try and take in the fixture.

The second, and final fixture, on Town's European travels should be a sterner test. Cypriot Champions APOEL Nicosia provide the opposition on Friday 12th July.  APOEL, who made it to the last 16 of the Champions League in the 2011/2012 campaign, eventually losing 2-8 on aggregate to Real Madrid, have once again won their national league and will feature in the 3rd Qualifying Round of this year's competition in August.

This match will take place on the 'show pitch' at the training base in Obertraun. Supporters are of course welcome. The centre is accessible to the public without charge to watch the game. This match will kick off at 3pm.

The club hope some supporters are able to enjoy the Austrian fixtures and the truly breathtaking locations around where the games will take place. If you have any questions you would like answering or assistance concerning the fixtures please email the club at info@fleetwoodtownfc.com or call 01253 775080.
