Fleetwood Town's new signing Stewart Murdoch has said the team's pre-season training has started really well. The 23 year old midfielder, who was snapped up by the Cod Army from Falkirk, feels that the squad is looking strong. Murdoch said: “The boys are looking good, everybody is looking sharp and most of the boys really looked after themselves which is expected at this level.”
The Scotsman is just one of many new faces to be brought into the club by Graham Alexander and Murdoch has expressed his delight at the warm reception he received off his new team-mates. “I've been made really at home. All of the lads have been brilliant with me so I can't ask for any more and I'm really enjoying training so far.”
The Cod Army have their first pre-season friendly this Thursday against Northwich Victoria, an opportunity which Murdoch to reasonably judge the club's progress so far. He insisted: “It is a good opportunity for us to find our feet in eleven-a-side again and to just really see where we are.”
The club will jet off to Austria for more preparation for the new campaign which again sees Fleetwood Town's new Scottish star find himself in unfamiliar territory. “I've never really been away and I've usually just stayed in Scotland for pre-season so it is a different experience for me and one that I'm obviously really looking forward to. It's going to be tough running out there but if you're going to run somewhere you might as well run somewhere with a view.”
