Keeper on loan at Conference hopefuls
Chris Maxwell has joined Blue Square Bet Premier Cambridge United on loan until January.
Maxwell has yet to figure for Town in a Football League game and manager Graham Alexander said he wouldn’t stand in the way of any player gaining games.
“Maxie and I had a conversation at the start of pre-season. He said he was looking for a loan move if he wasn’t going to start today. We both agreed.”
Alexander feels his keeper, who tasted Wembley glory on loan with Wrexham last term, will be looked after by a former charge who Town supporters will know as a former Luton Town.
“Richard Money was my youth team coach at Scunthorpe and gave me my first break. We have stayed in touch and a straight-forward phone call took place about Chris.
“It’s important to look after our players who are not playing regularly. We always need to explore the possibility of game elsewhere for players like Chris and Alex Titchiner.”
Newly-promoted Conference Chester took striker Titchiner, who made 10 appearances for Town last term, on loan until January.
