Fleetwood Town's Junior Brown has said he was happy to reunite with some of his former team mates at Southport on Saturday but admits he was disappointed with the result. Brown, who played the whole 90 minutes at the Merseyrail Community Stadium, insisted that Town could have produced a better performance.
“I was a bit disappointed with how the game went and I think we could have given a better account of ourselves. However we will learn from it, keep working hard in training next week and hopefully get off to a good start in the first league game.”
Despite Saturday's result, the Town winger has reiterated that preparation for the new season has been going well for the squad and himself.
“It has been enjoyable. We had the trip to Austria which was hard work but it was extremely necessary. We have taken everything what the new coaching staff have said onboard and I think we are all looking a lot fitter. Hopefully we can take that into the season and it will consequently stand us in good stead.”
Brown, 24, has said his individual preparation is also going according to plan.
“I am feeling good. All I am trying to do is to keep building on what I have been doing over the off season as well as what I have been working on in the pre-season.”
Brown has stressed he is doing all he can to remain injury free after serious knee injuries sidelined his first two seasons at Highbury.
“Hopefully this preparation will see me injury free this year. The first two seasons here were very disappointing being dogged by injuries. Last season I worked very hard in the off-season, I got some good advice and looked after myself a bit better which saw me through the season without any injuries. Hopefully this season I can do the same again and do my best for the team.”
