New signing Gareth Evans says he is delighted to have signed for Fleetwood Town.

The 24-year-old winger formerly of Rotherham United, Bradford City and Macclesfield was one of three players to sign for Town on the first day of the winter transfer window. Evans said: “I’m delighted to be here, it’s good to get amongst the lads today for the first day of training, and I’m looking forward to playing some football really. “I can’t wait; it’s been a bit of a long month at Rotherham with not playing any football really. It will be good to get back on the pitch with the lads. I can’t wait.” A winger by trade, Evans boasts a good goal scoring record, with 43 goals in 223 career appearances, and he is looking to continue his form for his new club. “That’s definitely my forte (going forward and scoring goals), staying out wide, getting the ball, and getting at players. I can also come inside and chip in with some goals and some assists.” Evans is no stranger at Highbury, after he figured as a second half substitute for Rotherham in the 1-1 draw earlier in the season, and he is looking forward to making his return, but this time in a Fleetwood shirt. “I came on at half time, enjoyed playing it, it’s a really good surface, and the lads have said that as well. I am excited to get back playing some games.” Evans did not make his debut in the New Years day victory over Port Vale, but expressed his delight for his new team-mates and hailed the victory as a ‘fantastic result’. “I sat at home watching the results coming in, and to see them come in with the result that they did was absolutely brilliant, it’s a fantastic result. Everyone knows that Port Vale are a strong side, so to go there and too win 2-0 is a fantastic result, and to keep a clean sheet is even better.” Evans will wear the number 32 shirt for Town.
