Fleetwood Town skipper looks ahead to Saturday's tie with Oxford United in what will be their first meeting of the season.
The reverse fixture was postponed last month and has now been rescheduled for Tuesday 12
th February.
Both sides endured blank Saturday’s last weekend due to the cold snap and Atkinson says that both teams will be ready for action this weekend and can't wait to get back out on the pitch.
"Obviously both teams will want to take the points and I think it will be a close game. We've been mentally and physically preparing for this game and training hard after the unfortunate postponement at Barnet".
"The lads will be eager to perform and we are all in good shape".
Oxford currently sit two points behind Town in 12
th spot but it will be the Cod Army faithful who will be looking for a victory and a move back into the play-off zone.
"Every game is a hard game in this league and the win will definitely help our push for promotion. We'll be aiming for the three points straight from kick-off and if we play to our strengths, we'll get the win".
"Oxford are a good side and we can't take anything for granted. We need to stay focused and each of us play our part".
Kick off is 15:00 this Saturday.
