Highbury Stadium was boosted this week when Wyre Borough Council planners gave the go ahead for further redevelopment of the ground.

A single story extension on the Memorial Stand will provide much-needed office space for main club sponsor Business Energy Solutions (BES).  The project above Jim’s Sport Bar will cost in excess of £1m and bring around 80 jobs to the port. The club chief executive was delighted with the decision. “It was superb news and we now go forward to build above the Memorial Stand and the back part of Jim’s Sports Bar.  The office space will be for BES as the company is growing at a rapid rate. Some 80 news jobs will be brought to the Borough.” Curwood hopes work will start in a matter of weeks. “We have a contractor who we are working with at the moment and a programme is being put together. We hope to see developments on site within the next few weeks and have the project completed in around 6 months time. The chief executive is confident match day arrangements will not be affected by the plans. “We don’t anticipate any  disruption to match days either in the Memorial Stand or Jim’s as building work will take current use into account’’
