Defender aims to maintain away clean sheets

Fleetwood Town defender Stephen Jordan has called on his team mates to carry on their good start to the season as they travel to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

Jordan, 31, has played every minute of every game so far this season, and the defender has been happy with the start his new side have made despite the recent set back at home to Burton Albion.

“Apart from the blip against Burton Albion I think we’ve been pretty pleased with the start so far.

“Our last two away fixtures have seen us score goals and kept clean sheets so hopefully that is set to continue.”

The travelling Cod Army have yet to see their team concede a goal away from Highbury in the league and Jordan believes keeping things tight at the back is the key to winning games and maintaining their 100% away record.

“We’ve got players in forward positions who will definitely score goals, so if we keep a clean sheet we believe we will win the game”.

The former Manchester City and Burnley left-back who was recruited in the summer admitted to enjoying his time in a Fleetwood shirt and has settled in well on the Fylde coast.

“I’m loving every minute of it, obviously wining games helps but I’m enjoying coming in to training there’s a good set of lads there, I’m really enjoying my football.”

Town are on the road again this Tuesday as they visit Tranmere Rovers in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Kick-off is 7pm (7pm) and coach travel departs Highbury at 4pm - cost £7.50 (season ticket holders) - £15.00 (non-season ticket holders). Please book at the club shop or call 01253 775080. Admission to Prenton Park is £10/£5.
