“Places like Bristol Rovers are difficult to visit particularly after they picked up an away point in midweek. We kept a clean sheet and gained a point and we can go home reasonably happy.”
It wasn’t until the second half that Davies was first called into action. Two shots from Dave Clarkson and a volley from Ollie Norburn proved to be the biggest test on the Town goal.
“No one should be fooled by their league position. Two years ago they were a League 1 side and we were Conference North. It’s a good point.
“You don’t really need to take note of the league (position) until you are 10 or 15 games into the season. Their current position is a bit false and we knew it would be a difficult game.
Town now face Barnet in npower League 2 on Saturday at Highbury and Davies says his side will build on the Bristol point.
“It’s been a tough week with 3 games and we’ll regroup in training. This week will be all about Saturday and planning for a good result. As a defensive unit we have to happy with 5 clean sheets out of 8 and that is plenty to push on with.”
Kick-off on Saturday is 3pm. The ticket office is open from 9am to 5pm until Friday and 9am to kick-off on match day.
