Fleetwood Town Football Club are pleased to announce that a planning application has been submitted to Wyre Council to extend the buildings adjoining the Memorial Stand at Highbury Stadium.
The additional development, which will involve the construction of an additional storey to the existing single storey building (which houses Jim’s Sports Bar), will create a new large office space on the first floor which will be occupied by football club chairman Andy Pilley’s BES group of companies by way of a formal lease with the football club.
The additional office facilities will allow BES to create up to 80 new jobs and will also significantly increase the current rental income the club receives from BES relating to its current tenancy within the Parkside Stand at Highbury Stadium.
Fleetwood Town chairman Andy Pilley said “we are delighted to make this further significant financial investment in Fleetwood and the new development will create many new jobs in the town as well as generating significant additional income for the football club which will help secure its future financially.”
The currently unused on site car parking area adjacent to the Memorial Stand (which can accommodate around 50 cars) will be used by staff occupying the new office facilities. This new development will not impact on the current ground capacity of Highbury Stadium although additional match day toilet facilities for Memorial Stand spectators are included within the plans. The club are expecting to submit plans to Wyre Council shortly regarding the proposed development of a different part of the stadium which will create additional seating capacity to meet the Football League’s ground criteria.
