Fleetwood Town FC Community Trust launches new season of Respect workshops for local schools.

Fleetwood TownFC Community Trust is today announcing this season’s programme of Respect workshops for local schools. In a programme funded by npower, all 72 Football League Trusts will be delivering lesson plans around the theme of ‘Respect’ to 80,000 ten and eleven year olds across the UK. Fleetwood TownFC Community Trust will be aiming to run sessions for 1200 Fylde Coast youngsters between now and end of February 2013. Working with The Football League Trust, npower has designed the Respect workshops to use young people’s love of football to encourage good behaviour. Through fun and interactive sessions in schools, children are taught how to: Identify unacceptable behaviour and its effect on others
  • Develop an understanding of respect and how this can be taken into daily life
  • See situations from other people’s perspective
The aim of the session is to help youngsters understand the consequences of their conduct on others and appreciate that their behaviour can affect not just themselves but others at school, home and in the community. Clare McDougall, Head of Community and Education for npower, comments, “Last season, these sessions proved really popular with teachers and schools. Using the theme of football and meeting people from their local football club meant youngsters were engaged and interested in what the workshops were all about.” Any local schools interested in receiving a visit from the club should contact: Matt Hilton, Director of Community & Education on 07794 941 021 or via email matt.hilton@fleetwoodtownfc.com
