Junior Brown fired home an added time equaliser to give Fleetwood Town a point at Northampton last Saturday.

The draw secured third-spot in the npower League 2 table when a home win would have allowed the Robins to leapfrog the Cod Army. Brown is the unlikely lead scorer for Fleetwood Town after a summer in which strikers Jon Parkin, David Ball and Steven Gillespie were added to the Highbury frontline. The 23-year-old left back has been switched to midfield by manager Micky Mellon and the move is paying dividends in terms of a five-goal personal account. “A fifth goal of the season today and everything is going really well for me. Conor (McLaughlin) sent the ball over to (Shaun) Beeley who found me with a back header. The ball landed at my feet and I was in the right place at the right time. The ball’s gone in and we’ve taken the point. “The lads were a bit disappointed that we didn’t take all three points but it’s a well-fought point in the end. We thoroughly deserved a point but we also deserved to be punished by the goals we gave away. Cheltenham worked hard and bombarded us with long balls. Their two goals came from set pieces and they should have been dealt with. Four points from the last two away games is impressive by anyone’s standards, though.” The former England C international say the mood in the Town camp is positive. “The lads are enjoying their football right now. We’ve always had good team spirit and we are all in it together. We enjoy winning together and we learn together when results say so. It’s disappointing we haven’t won today but, then again, we set high standards.”   Town are in action at Highbury next Saturday when Wycombe Wanderers are the visitors.  Tickets are available all next week by calling 01253 775080, through the website or visiting the club shop which is open Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm (match day 9am to kick-off at 3pm). Hospitality is also available in the Parkside Suite.
