By David MitchellFleetwood Town’s full-back, Dean Howell, will stir some exciting memories when Fleetwood Town enter the 2012-13 FA Cup competition for the first time at the First Round stage:
‘Every player enjoys the FA Cup,’ says Howell, ’It’s a competition to get far in and be successful in. There’s nothing like a good cup run to give the club a buzz.’
The 31-year old is well-placed to back up that statement after being part of the Crawley Town team which not only made the Fifth Round two seasons ago but stretched Manchester United all the way at Old Trafford before going down 1-0:
‘It was an amazing day. We held our own after beating some good sides such as Derby County along the way. We had the hunger that day and Bromley will be the same at Highbury. The boys need to be mentally right. Everyone will see Saturday as a nailed-on win but Bromley will be determined to spoil the party.’
Howell is back to full fitness after an ankle injury:
‘I’ve recovered well and I’m feeling good so I need to keep performing with my defensive duties. As far as the league is concerned we would take where we are at the moment and I believe that there is a lot more to come which is exciting.’
For the moment, the priority changes and Howell will be hoping that a win on Saturday can trigger a cup run to rival Crawley Town’s in 2010-11.
