The 25-year-old went to the Lancashire side during September and since has had 13 appearances including last night's 2-1 defeat to Rotherham. This, however, did not include the game against the Cod Army when he sat out last Tuesday's derby.
Micky Mellon said,
"We had no option but to bring back Rob. Youl Mawene currently has a broken foot which he sustained on Saturday and will be out for four weeks or so. Our defensive options are limited".
"We have brought Rob back now but not for this weekend as he is cup-tied. He'll then see action against Southend."
Atkinson made 15 appearances for Town last season.
