Fleetwood Town's youth side returned to training on Tuesday and added nine, new first years to the squad.

Local lads, Robbie Bromley and Kurt Willoughby spoke to us on their arrival at the club. Robbie was asked how it feels to be signing for a Football League club. 'I feel great! I can't wait to start pre-season training and then the matches. I'm looking forward to playing in the league also.' 'We have played with the new players a lot before in trials and so on; they are a great bunch of lads!' Kurt was also keen to start the action but had a mind on the BTEC sports coursework which forms an integral part of the two-year scheme. 'I'm excited!  I am looking forward to playing some games. The academic part of the course side will also be good because we will be learning about the body and that can help me develop as a footballer because it will help prevent me suffering an injury for example.' It's no walk in the park receiving a contract at Fleetwood Town as Director of Youth, Steve Carlin told us. 'We have had over 100 trialists and somehow narrowed it down to 9 lads. I have high hopes and aspirations for the group. All I have seen is positivity from them.' The new recruits will join up with the rest of the squad after their second day with Fleetwood Town. 'The new additions will come into the college for a short induction then they will join the rest of the team for a training session where they will unite together. The youth team have a friendly coming up against AFC Fylde this weekend. However, Steve understands what the game is all about. 'It's the first game therefore the players won't have had much coaching so it's more of a fitness session. It is a local derby but to me, pre-season results aren't important it more about getting the lads used to playing with each other.' This Saturday’s game against AFC Fylde youth is a 2pm kick-off is at Mythop Road YMCA, Lytham and supporters are welcome. This game has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitche (update 17.26 06/07/12) YOUTH GAME ON - SATURDAY KO 2.30pm AFC Fylde v Fleetwood Town.
