By Liz OwenThe Town squad are currently training in Glasgow, and new signing David Ball is feeling the strain of some intense pre-season sessions.
“It’s been hard today (Monday) on the legs, we did a tough session yesterday as well so all the lads seem to be quite sore today,” he said.
“The three 15-minute games were good, it was tough as well. I think for myself it’s probably been my first real week of pre-season to be honest, so it’s been really hard. All the lads have found it hard but that’s what pre-season is all about.
“I feel probably 60-70% [fitness level] at the moment really. I’m just working hard to get my match fitness and sharpness back into my game, and hopefully I’ll get that up here.”
Ball feels as though he has settled into the Town squad already despite the lack of familiar faces, adding, “I didn’t really know anyone from coming in, but the lads are all good lads here. There’s a good bit of banter and I’m enjoying it.”
Town face Kilmarnock today in another pre-season fixture and Ball is hoping to make a positive impact during his time on the pitch. “I’ve been unlucky not to get on the scoresheet up to now,” he said, “so I’m looking to do that and follow it on into the first game of the season.”
