Fleetwood Town face Oldham Athletic at Highbury on Friday evening, kick off 7:30 p.m., and latest signings, Conor McLaughlin and David Ball, will be hoping to extend their match time for their new club.

Both wore the red and white for the first time on Tuesday evening at Stockport County and are seeking to catch up with fitness and match time.  Former Preston full-back, McLaughlin, played a full ninety minutes: ‘I only got back to touching a ball the day before and, naturally, felt a bit rusty but it was good to get a full game under my belt.  I met some of the lads on the Saturday and others on the Monday so everything’s pretty new.  These games are all about getting sharpness back.’ Having just completed all his fitness tests following his transfer from Peterborough United, Ball arrived at Edgeley Park just before the game and played in the second half: ‘It was my first bit of football for six or seven days.  Bearing that in mind, I was happy with my touch.  There were a couple of chances which I should have scored from but that will come in time.  I’m looking forward to Friday’s game with Oldham.  It will be a tough test but it will be good to play at home.’ One name definitely not on Friday’s team sheet against the Latics is that of Joey Barton.  The club can confirm that Barton will not be involved in the Oldham game but will be at Highbury to see the team in action. The squad will embark on a three-day trip to Scotland from Sunday and the visit will include a behind closed doors friendly against Scottish Premier League side, Kilmarnock on Tuesday. Meanwhile The club can confirm Joey Barton will not be involved in tonight’s game v Oldham Athletic at Highbury, but will be attending the game to see the team in action.
