Fleetwood Town’s latest signing, David Ball, is excited about the prospect of playing for the Football League’s newest club:

‘I’ve heard a lot about Fleetwood’s progress through the leagues and the really good football that they have played along the way.  The way the manager wants to play suits me and I can’t wait to start!  I’ve joined a club that is moving forward and to become a part of that is really exciting for me.  A visit from Nottingham Forest is a fantastic way to start the new season.’ Ball, who is Town’s fourth new striker, is only 22 but has gathered more than enough useful experience so far: ‘I started at Manchester City, making the bench a couple of times and travelling with the squad.  Being at a big club with big players no doubt helps as you are learning the game and with Fleetwood Town I see a club who are trying to do things properly much as a Premier League club would and that was part of the attraction.’ ‘I’ve scored a few goals at Championship level as well as having experience in League 1. I’m happy with my record so far and looking to bring that in to Fleetwood.  I am primarily a goal scorer and like to operate on the shoulder or dropping into a hole to create as well.’ The move to Highbury is ideal both on and off the pitch for a product of the North West: ‘I’m from the Manchester area and my girlfriend is in Liverpool which is where we are likely to be.  I believe there’s a few lads from Merseyside so the move will suit me all round.’ Town manager, Micky Mellon, could not hide his excitement at concluding the deal: ‘David is an exciting young talent who I’ve been chasing for two and a half months.  Finally, I am delighted to add such a quality footballer to the squad.  He has unbelievable promise and is the type of talent that we want to develop at the football club, alongside the experienced players that we have already brought in.’
